As of June 2, 2010 there is not much documentation on the extension update feature which is new to Joomla! 1.6. As more documentation and information becomes available this help article should be updated to include the additional information. Since this is a new feature, this help article will probably be the first place someone looks for help regarding this new feature. - James C.
