Joomla 1 6 Installation Procedure - In Detail
Until someone writes a definitive 1.6 install guide the instructions to install 1.5 work fine. http://docs.joomla.org/Joomla_Installation
One note: If installing 1.6 in a directory where another version was previously installed then be sure to completely remove all old joomla files for that directory and delete the old database first. At least that is what worked for me. Of course back things up first:-) "Some men say why... I say why knot?"
