Google Summer of Code 2008
The 2008 Google Summer of Code (SoC) program is now well under way. This is Joomla!'s fourth season as part of this amazing program and we have another group of eager contributors working on fresh ideas. Past Events
- Pizza Bugs and Fun 2 - 21/22 & 28/29 June 2008
- Second PBF event, plus a second Doc Camp event, equals the first Joomla! Bazaar.
- Google Highly Open Participation Contest - November 2007 to February 2008
- Hugely successful event for high school and secondary school students. Many documentation tasks were completed.
- Doc Camp 1 - 19-21 January 2008
- The first ever Doc Camp event took place online and in Vancouver, Canada and Brussels, Belgium.
Projects
The Documentation Working Group currently has the following projects in progress:
- Joomla! 1.5 Help Screens Project
- This project is creating new help screens for Joomla! 1.5 using this wiki as a staging area before they are copied to help.joomla.org.
- Joomla! 1.5 Template Tutorials Project
- This project is aimed at producing comprehensive documentation covering all aspects of Joomla! 1.5 templates.
Working Groups
- Development Working Group
- The main responsibilty of the development working group is taking care of the development of the Joomla! application framework and the Joomla! Content Management System (CMS). Beside the development of the Joomla! codebase the development working group defines the Joomla! roadmap strategy, creating (architectural) designs for major and minor versions and of course take care of bug- and security fixes in maintenance versions.The development working group holds two teams: the Development Team and the so called Bug Squad. The teams have separate responsibilities, but together they form the development force from the Joomla! project. Please check the development category page for a full overview of all available pages.
- Documentation Working Group
- If you are looking for a way to help the documentation effort, then please take a look in the cookie jar where we have a list of small(-ish) tasks that you can pick up when you have a bit of time and can be completed without too much effort.

- Sites and Infrastructure Working Group
- The Sites and Infrastructure Working Group is responsible for maintaining a productive, jovial forum for efficient, open communication between everyone involved in the project.
- Translations Working Group
- All regarding translations of Joomla! is collected here. You will find descriptions on how you can set up translations, how this team is organized, standards to use etc. etc.
