Configuring a LAMPP server for PHP development

The letters LAMPP stand for Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP and PhpMyAdmin, Linux is the operative system we are using and the rest are services also known as the "AMP stack" that we need to install and configure to setup our development environment.
Most professional, high performance and high traffic web servers in the world runs on Linux, then is always a great idea to develop your project on Linux from the very beginning and help yourself avoid compatibility problems in your project when you want migrate it to a live server.
You can install a LAMPP server on your own Linux desktop, in a Linux server or in a Linux virtual machine, All these options can be used for the development of PHP projects, but for this article we are going to focus on Linux desktop, feel free to add more alternatives and document them in the following list.
