Getting started

If you have only recently starting working with Joomla you will probably have experienced the pain of learning a new system. New terminology, new ways of doing things, perhaps even the web itself may be new to you. Then let these guides relieve some of that pain.

Important

You don't need to register here if you just want to read the documentation.

You should only register if you want to make changes to the information contained here. Also note that registration on this wiki is entirely separate from registration on our other sites, such as the forum.

Coming soon

With Joomla 2.5 safely released the focus of development is shifting to 3.0, currently scheduled for release in September 2012. This will be the first of a new series (3.0/3.1/3.5) and maintaining backwards compatibility with 2.5 will not be required.

Joomla Platform

The Joomla Platform is available. Development will be time-based with roughly a three-month release cycle.

Joomla 3.1 was the last STS version prior to Joomla 2.5. Support for Joomla 3.1 ended on 24 February 2012.

Joomla! 2.5 is the current LTS version. The previous LTS version, Joomla 1.5, is still widely used and will be supported with security fixes only until September 2012.

This project is aimed at creating consistent, easy-to-follow Tutorials for Joomla! Extension Developers, written by Joomla! Developers.
Joomla! Help Screens Project
This project focuses on the administrator Joomla! 2.5 Help screens and Joomla! 3.1 Help screens. Unless a Joomla! Installation is modified, all core component Help screens are being served from this wiki. The summary status of each Joomla! Help screen can be found in the previous links.
