I think that there should be an easy way to do this using aliases. Does anyone else agree?

If you turn on Search Engine Friendly URLs (SEF) in the global settings, you can use the alias names in your links.

Note: test this in your staging/development environment first in case your installation doesn't work well with SEF.

You can always can get to know the Article ID
