GCI 2010-11 Sample Rubric
The completed work that students do on each task will be rated on each of the following criteria:
- Quality of Work
- Open Source Community Involvement.
Although not yet finalized a scale of 1 to 5 could be used for each criteria and the final score would be the sum of the 4 items. This rubric can be used to decide if a task has been completed successfully and will also be used in the process of determining the grand prize winner.
These don't need to be highly detailed but can just describe what an excellent work product and participation would entail.
For code tasks: While code reuse is encouraged, a work product that merely makes minor modifications of existing solutions is not adequate on this scale.
For code tasks: Excellent work will include tests where appropriate, be translatable where appropriate, include user documentation where appropriate, will complete Joomla! Extensions Directory submission process where appropriate, will complete feature or issue tracker submission where appropriate.
Quality of Work
For code tasks: Excellent work will meet Joomla! code standards,follow the Joomla! MVC design pattern, be well commented, include properly formatted doc blocks where appropriate.
Open Source Community Involvement
For code tasks: Excellent work will involve seeking and responding to advice and feedback from the mentor, interacting with the community in places such as the Joomla! Forums, the mailing lists, IRC, and the people site).
