In Joomla 3.4 a component installed will not create a menu item

Installing a component in Joomla 3.4 will not create a backend menu item

This pertains only to Joomla! version(s):- 3.4 and higher
What is the cause
Extensions without a explicit menu tag in the manifest file will not have a administrator menu item created
How to fix
Please ask the extension developer to add a menu item to the manifest file as documented at Manifest_files#Menu_links_and_submenus
