Auto Select Last Uploaded File
From Joomla! Documentation
Introduction[edit]
The File and Media Management: Automatically Selecting the Last Uploaded File feature, introduced in Joomla 5.2, enhances the media manager by automatically selecting the last uploaded file when working within an iframe. This is particularly useful when selecting media files such as images within an article or editor, streamlining the workflow for content creators.
How it Works[edit]
When using the media manager in an iframe (for instance, when selecting an image in a media field or within an editor), Joomla will now automatically select the last file uploaded. This feature simplifies the process of uploading and selecting files, reducing the need for manual file selection.
For example:
- Create a new article.
- Select an intro image.
- Navigate to any folder in the media manager.
- Upload an image.
The newly uploaded image will automatically be selected for you, saving time and effort.
This functionality works similarly when using the CMS Content -> Media button in the TinyMCE editor, as well as with the media button below the Codemirror editor.
How to Access[edit]
To use this feature:
- Open the media manager within an iframe (such as when selecting an image for an article).
- Upload a file.
- The last uploaded file will automatically be selected after the upload is complete.
This feature is available when working in the media manager within both the TinyMCE and Codemirror editors.
Additional Notes[edit]
This feature improves the user experience by automating the selection of recently uploaded files, reducing clicks and making file management more efficient.
Note on the Feature's Origin[edit]
This feature was added in Joomla 5.2 via the improvement introduced in #43823.
