Introduction[edit]

The ability to search for articles checked out by users, introduced in Joomla 5.2, allows administrators to quickly identify and manage content that is currently checked out. This feature makes it easier to locate content by a specific author who has locked the article for editing.

How it Works[edit]

With this new functionality, you can use the search bar in the article manager to find all content that has been checked out by a particular user. Simply enter the search query using the following format:

CHECKEDOUT:username

Replace "username" with the actual username or real name of the author to find the articles they have checked out. This helps site administrators manage content that may be locked due to ongoing editing or unfinished tasks.

How to Access[edit]

To search for articles checked out by users:

  1. Open the article manager in Joomla.
  2. In the search bar, type CHECKEDOUT: followed by the username or real name of the author whose checked out content you want to find.
  3. The system will return a list of all content checked out by that user.

This allows administrators to quickly identify content that might need to be unlocked or reviewed.

Additional Notes[edit]

This feature enhances content management in Joomla by making it easier to track and manage checked out articles. Administrators can now search for content using specific authors' usernames or real names to identify articles that are being edited.

Note on the Feature's Origin[edit]

This feature was added in Joomla 5.2 via the improvement introduced in #43965.
