Major-Veröffentlichung Nummer (X.Y.Z) - Die Erhöhung der Major-Nummer zeigt eine umfassende Überarbeitung und Neu-Verfassung der Codebasis (Framework-Ebene). Kann mit früheren Major-Veröffentlichung inkompatibel sein.
Derzeit hat Joomla! diese Major-Veröffentlichungen erarbeitet:
- 1.0.x - Codebasis von Mambo 4.5.3 abgeleitet
- 1.5.x - Major Neu-Verfassung der Codebasis, Teile von Joomla! 1.0.x sind in der Codebasis
- 2.5.x
- 3.x.x
