View source for Adding custom fields to the article component

Great tutorial, will the patch be soon integrated to Joomla! packages ?
I had to install the patch in a Joomla 2.5.8 site in order to make the plugin work and I wonder if I will have to install the patch again after each update.

Really useful tutorial, thanks.  I just tried it on Joomla 3.1 and it doesn't work.  I'll see if I can figure out what the issues are.

This article doesn't work anymore with joomla versions from 2.5.14 and above, as noted on the bugreport page. Also this article doesn't work with a 'default' joomla installation without the supplied patch.
