Description[edit]

Two similar screens for adding a new menu or modifying the details of an existing one.

Version Changes[edit]

  • The Menu Name field was renamed to Unique Name.
  • Title field was added.
  • Description field was added.

Column Headers[edit]

None.

Typical Usage[edit]

Add a New Menu[edit]

You can open the Menu: [New] screen by clicking the New toolbar button in the Menu Manager.

This function creates the 'shell' of a Menu which, along with the automatically created copy of the mod_mainmenu module, forms the container into which menu items are added to create the finished menu. The menu items are the shortcuts (links) to other articles, sections, components, for example, within the web site. There are four editable fields in this screen.

After completing the fields click the Save toolbar button. The new menu and its module will be created.

Edit An Existing Menu[edit]

Select the desired menu in the Menu Manager and click the Edit toolbar button. You will find three editable fields in the loaded Menu: [Edit] screen.

The actual settings of the two screens are similar for both the New and Edit functions except a new Module is not created when editing, and the Module Title field is no longer present on the screen.

Quick Tips[edit]

Quick Tips Placeholder

Using the analogy of the previous section this is the sauce and condiments that go with the meat! Provide any one liners that may not normally be obvious. These may already be known to you or you may spot something within the forums or other publications. Just ensure they work and that the wording is consistent with the rest of the document and not a straight copy of the content from other sources. Use paragraph format type and do not add extra white space. Ensure that you use the correct styles for inline emphasis and notices.

Please remove this placeholder as soon as you start entering text here.

Points to Watch[edit]

Points to Watch Placeholder

Highlight known issues or easy traps that can be fallen into when using this function. Include references to known solutions rather than repeating the solutions here, unless considered essential. Even if there are none immediately apparent leave this section in the Help Screen - this message for future reference. Just replace this message with None Known at this Time. Use paragraph format type and do not add extra white space. Ensure that you use the correct styles for inline emphasis and notices.

Dependencies[edit]

As a module is created for a new menu, it will be listed with the specified title in the Module Manager as well.
