Install or discover required?[edit]
I am trying to follow the instructions on this page, but am felled at the first hurdle: navigating to index.php?option=com_helloworld results in 404 Component not found. Any ideas? Sam Wilson (talk) 22:29, 13 May 2014 (CDT)
Identical (non)result here. I also tried Extensions -> Discover, since the component doesn't show up in the comp list, but no luck either. Forum http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=727&t=771266 says that's because DISCOVER will only work by finding the HELLOWORLD.XML info file! Adding that makes it work... So the "test it" for site & admin is wrong, as it was for 2.5 already! Marvin Martiano (talk) 09:02, 23 April 2015 (CDT)
Invalid extension version in the archive[edit]
The XML file in the archive (at the end of the page there is a link to http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsrelease/11394/58225/com_helloworld-1.6-part01.zip) contains an invalid extension version (1.6.0) instead of the one that is displayed in the tutorial (3.2).
