Setup FTP Account

Viewing FTP Accounts[edit]

1. Log into CPanel (usually by appending /cpanel or :2082 to your URL) using your hosting account username and password

2. Click on "FTP Accounts" which can usually be found in the third window titled "Files" - use Search if you cannot find it.

3. About a third of of the way down the FTP Accounts will be listed.


Setting up a FTP Account[edit]

1. Log into CPanel (usually by appending /cpanel or :2082 to your URL) using your hosting account username and password.

2. Click on "FTP Accounts" which can usually be found in the third window titled "Files" - use Search if you cannot find it.

3. Enter a username into the "Username" box - the actual created name of your FTP Account will be followed by your domain name.

4. Click the "Generate Password" button to generate a random password.

5. Click "Use Password" Ensure that you copy this into a spreadsheet or somewhere that you can access it when setting up Joomla!.

5. Enter a Directory name to restrict access to that level or child folders (leave blank for root access).

6. Enter a Quota - this is usually left to "unlimited" or "0" for unlimited depending on your CPanel.

7. Click "Create FTP Account".

8. FTP Account details will now be displayed.

Deleting a FTP Account[edit]

1. 1. Log into CPanel (usually by appending /cpanel or :2082 to your URL) using your hosting account username and password.

2. Click on "FTP Accounts" which can usually be found in the third window titled "Files" - use Search if you cannot find it.

3. About a third of the way down the FTP Accounts will be listed.

4. Find the FTP Account you wish to delete and click the "Delete" button.

5. Select "Delete Account". Some CPanels give the option to delete the files in the Directory the FTP Account has permissions to so be careful!
