Amy, I noticed you removed some links from this page. Assuming this checklist is still used by the release team, then you should (at least) put this link back as it is directly referenced in the Administrator (Help -> Joomla! Help -> Latest Version Check). Even if the link in the Administrator were to be removed in some future release it would still be necessary to maintain the information on this page to support all the Joomla! sites out there that have not been upgraded.
Actually, this whole version thing is currently a mess, with information spread across many pages and often not kept up-to-date. I think we should review what information needs to be made available, centralise it, and ensure that the procedures are in place to maintain it. Chris Davenport 04:25, 9 July 2008 (EDT)
Chris, please see the Bug Squad discussion Proposed Changes for Joomla! 1.5 Release Documentation where I recommended an approach to get the kind of clean up and centralization you are speaking of. Andrew approved this plan in the discussion, as did Wilco today when we talked. That is why I updated the list - with the new centralized source. At some point, Wilco plans to replace this with a very nice International process, but for now, this is a step towards up-to-date, centralized data. BTW - if I ever don't respond to these notes it is because I didn't accidentally see it in an RSS feed. How do people know to look here, I wonder? Thanks AmyStephen 21:27, 9 July 2008 (EDT)
I updated the Latest Version Check so that it's current. Thanks for letting me know. It is also on the checklist and I have informed the Bug Squad and Communications team. AmyStephen 23:21, 9 July 2008 (EDT)
Thanks Amy. I'm not on the Bug Squad mailing list so I didn't see that. I wouldn't bother with the RSS feed from this wiki as the traffic is just too much! Whenever you edit a page it should get added to your watchlist and you will then get an email notification of any further edits made by anyone else. Unless you switched that option off. :) Chris Davenport 03:30, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
Re-reading that made me realize that response sounded sharp when I was going for informative, knowing you are not on the Bug Squad list. Sorry about that. I wanted to make certain you knew the right people were involved. I checked my profile and, you are right, all of the "add to watched pages" were off. (Now on.) I also found this cool new template! The RSS feeds are something that Elin and Brad have worked on - I think the wiki ones are kind of fun. It makes visible the hard work going on in here, which should encourage more contributions. Thanks! AmyStephen 14:24, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
