This page is a copy of incorrect information found on the web.
I've written the following material on this subject.
According to: http://twiki.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/AllDocumentation/CpanelDocs/CPanelGlossary "Addon Domain: An additional domain name associated with your cPanel account. Each addon domain is stored in its own directory which you can configure. This allows you to manage multiple domains from a single cPanel account. Addon domains must be registered with a domain name registrar to work."
I re-wrote the article and I think it is more accurate. Article is meant to be a basic outline of the differences. If you think it should be expanded in detail or examples let me know.
Other hints well taken!

If this page has been copied from material elsewhere on the web then we will need to check the copyright of the original material to see if we have permission to post it here. Even if some of the wording has been changed, it would still be a derivative work and subject to the same copyright restrictions. Phil, can you clarify the origin of this article? Thanks. It came from my laptop where it had been for a while where I used that information to write the article you see now. I did post the incorrect file first which Brad pointed out nicely. Since I completely rewrote the entire article posted from scratch in my own words last night, I feel that this article is not a derivative work of the original, but my own. I did keep the format of the original article. However, I will try to find the site it came from, send a copy and ask for permission to use a derivative of their work.
In the meantime I understand the position that this article may have put the project in and apologize for that. If you, Brad, or anyone else thinks this article should be removed, then please delete it entirely as I can't do that. I can move the article to my page and then delete the contents of the article once its on my page if that would work. It is not linked to anything and won't offend me as it was my mistake anyway.
Things I will do. I will attempt to find the site that it came from and ask for permission to publish a derivative of their work here.
When I find the site where the original file came from, I will send the link to you Chris and will send a copy to Brad.
I will review the applicable copyright articles to make sure nothing I write violates copyright or is a derivative of work others have done.
I will clear articles I wish to publish in the future by having them reviewed (by other than my wife who is a magazine editor) before I place it on the wiki to make sure it follows the guidelines for articles of the doc site.

This article is a derivative of an article that originated from http://webnet77.com/webstuff/parked-add-on-domain.html
I have asked and have received permission to use a derivative of the original article from Brent at WebNet77 http://webnet77.com
Our website has been ripped off by so many without asking, it's refreshing to have someone ask permission. Sure, no problem.
Kind Regards, Brent
