Documenting Joomla! 1.6[edit]

Hi Dexter My name is Tony Davis known here as Addacumen. I am attempting to organise the documentation of 1.6 and I observe that you seem to be a heavy contributor of images to the Documentation site.

The discussion about this can be seen on Amy's Ning http://www.alltogetherasawhole.org/ under User Manual. My idea is to use the wiki templates to replicate material consistently through the new Manual. The wiki is confusing in that it uses 'template' both in the sense of managing the look and feel (like Joomla! templates) and in the sense of factoids - like this one

There is quite a lot of calling of calling of calling of things and it may be possible to reduce this but I shall discuss that with Chris Davenport. The atoms of this process are called Chunks and one may be seen here.

It occurs to me that images could be managed in this way too. They are referred to in a factoid which is given a name and description and can be referred to from a resource index. For example Images could be the equivalent of Toolbaricon and Control_panel could be the equivalent of Add_New_Article. Then anyone building a documentation page will simply refer to Template:Image (you need to look at the coding to see what this is really) to insert the appropriate image. If some future change occurs in the appearance of the Control Panel all that is required is to modify the Chunk and all else follows.

What do you think?
