What was Joomla 1.6?[edit]
Joomla 1.6 was released in April 2009 (Alpha) through to July 2011 (1.6.6) and was the short term support version preceeding Joomla 1.7 and Joomla 2.5.
Joomla 1.6 should no longer be used for production sites, with it recommended that users upgrade to Joomla 2.5 (which should be a seamless update in most cases) or updated to the currently supported version of Joomla.
