I agree, if the content is now not best practice. The media folder and setting things to the ROOT folder seems to be a conversation I cannot follow in the community. I think the practice is ideal but the topic itself could be set in a manifest doc. Best practices could point to Joomla! Coding Standards and perhaps somehow be a list generated from links on a page module/category (im just learning this wiki thing). For example on the page discussing JTable, ACL checks or others, there could be a highlight of best practices when doing etc.. that get linked to the best practices page?

JSplit[edit]

I vote to delete the page. The examples given are no longer really relevant - we can always recreate the page if it is felt that it is needed.

For example on the page discussing JTable, ACL checks or others, there could be a highlight of best practices when doing etc.. that get linked to the best practices page? popROAR (talk) 00:31, 26 October 2013 (CDT)

We should be embarrassed we don't have something like this which leads into a great series of articles. It's easy to follow. Tom Hutchison (talk) 09:02, 28 October 2013 (CDT)

Restoring Deletion[edit]

There are too many pages linking to this page. It needs a major rewrite or redirect to an appropriate article. JED tried to start a JED best practices on the forum which looks like it flopped. No one contributed to the post. JED has some pages on docs, so what we need is a landing page, explanations and pointing at what is and what isn't the best development practices for developers. Coding, security, how to get listed on the JED, licensing, etc... Tom Hutchison (talk) 08:44, 28 October 2013 (CDT)

Info to be added[edit]

This page needs to expand the info about the /media/ folder.

I'm adding some links here that provides information: http://www.babdev.com/blog/139-use-the-media-folder-allow-overridable-media https://gist.github.com/phproberto/4615320
