Posisi modul adalah sebuah blok tempat di Templat. Posisi Modul ini mengidentifikasi satu atau beberapa posisi dalam sebuah templat dan memberitahu Joomla! dimana akan meletakkan output dari modul yang telah ditetapkan untuk posisi tertentu. Desainer templat memiliki kontrol penuh atas posisi modul, menciptakan variasi antara templat dan masing-masing posisi standar Joomla! yang ditetapkan untuk modul didalam pemasangan contoh data.
For example, the module position Left could be defined to be on the left side of the template to display a site navigation menu. So if a module is assigned the Left position, it will be displayed wherever the designer puts that Left module position - not necessarily the left side of the page.
